it is the fan and the space it occupies.. basically you take the blower apart and you will see the fan and all the leaves that are in there. It happens to all rovers and most cars over time.

are you sure it is a resistor issue... check for power going to the motor at all... sadly the fuse box near the battery under the hood can corrode and one of the first things to go is the blower...

Try ebay for the single button remotes, sadly you can't use the newer ECU in your Rover without major updates and changes from the Rovercom computer (i.e. land rover specific computer)

The only way to take an ECM from one rover to another is with Rovacom or similar land rover specific computer.

Sounds like the fuse block under the hood by the battery has some corrosion. Normally I would say just replace it... sadly it isn't cheap.
