Default HVAC Blower Motor Resistor

Hi there. I am a novice so take it easy on me guys!

I have a 2001 Land Rover Disco 2 w no AC or heat. Initially the first three speeds went out now everything is out. After much poking around I am fairly certain I can get the first 3 speeds going by replacing the blower motor resistor. When I look up the part I see the top resistor. But when I pulled mine out it was the bottom resistor. I can't find the bottom one and as you can see it is much more expensive than the top one. Are these parts interchangeable??

Thanks all!

are you sure it is a resistor issue... check for power going to the motor at all... sadly the fuse box near the battery under the hood can corrode and one of the first things to go is the blower motor.

When working with GEMS vehicles. Never try to locate a misfire by pulling plug leads off - pull the injector connector instead. Otherwise you can blow up the ECU.

Secondly never swap ECUs between vehicles to test them, because both vehicles and ECUs may stop working, and you'll have to have them all reset by a franchised LR dealer (ouch!).

I will check.
The first 3 speeds went but the high speed was still working up until a couple of weeks ago.
I thought to change the resistor bc the high speed AC is too loud anyways.
at least get 3 speeds going. but maybe the whole show is a bust at this point?

if the fan is loud then the bird cage may be full of leaves.

it is the fan and the space it occupies.. basically you take the blower apart and you will see the fan and all the leaves that are in there. It happens to all rovers and most cars over time.
