Eradic Idle

My 99 Disco I wants to idle up to 1500 to 1700 RPM. And sometimes idles normally...
I have:
1. replaced fuel filter
2. replaced plugs and plug wires
3. replaced IAC (twice)
4. cleaned manifold
5. replaced PCV hoses
6. replaced fuel temp sensor

Also, it sometimes will not start when hot and I have to wait until engine cools down. It seems to not be getting gas or something of that nature. I have replaced the crank shaft sensor for this problem but it keeps happening.

ANY help would be greatly appreciated on these 2 issues. I am at my wits end!

Thank you in advance!

Depending on the mileage I would start by checking fuel pressure at the fuel rail, could very well be early sings that your fuel pump is starting to go.

Keep in mind, I have no idea about the rest of the vehicle maintenance history or milage.

Thanks!

The milage is ~170K. I have kept it well sice I baught it at 80K miles. Oil changes etc. I even took it to a Rover mechanic and the problem was "fixed" for a few days then started back reving up to 1500 RPM again.

I would check the fuel pressure, I bet you will find you need a new fuel pump.

Thank you

If that is the case, is there any way to repair it? I am afraid to find out how much a new, or even used one costs.

First thing I would do is check fuel pressure. If it's is a bad pump, then give Nathan a call in my signature and he can help find you one.
