I bought my LR2 used with 43,000 miles from an infrequent driver. Aside from her being a slob, the vehicle was in surprisingly good condition, under all the dirt of course. I've put some money into it, fresh paint on the front end cap, new leather shifter and brake boots, new side vent inserts, new headliner, etc...
Recently, the check engine light came on so I brought it to the dealership. They told me the fault code was "running lean" They reset it and told me in order to find the issue and repair it, I would need to leave it with them @ $125.00/hr. To my befuddlement and dismay, I did not choose this option. The light came back on almost immediately upon leaving the dealership and it does not affect the operation so...anyways, now when I go to start it, it fails and everything starts blinking and dinging, displaying various faults like DHC fault, transmission fault, blah blah blah....subsequent attempts usually result in a normal start but what the hell is going on?

Welcome to the forum. Running lean is normally cause by the MAF sensor getting dirty, as far as the fault codes, have your battery tested.
